Home Tour 2020 Update!

May 11, 2020

To Members of Old Riverside Foundation, Home Tour Volunteers, Vendors, and Guests:

Re: Home Tour 2020

On May 6, 2020, the Board of Directors of Old Riverside Foundation voted to postpone this year’s Vintage Home Tour, recently rescheduled to October 17, 2020, to May 15, 2021. The Board shares your disappointment that there will not be a Home Tour this year, especially since this year’s tour would be the first to feature Mid-Century architecture. Because of the magnitude of this decision, and out of respect for all those who share our passion for historic preservation and appreciation, Old Riverside Foundation would like to explain the reasons for this choice.

An event such as the Home Tour takes a lot of advanced planning. The uncertainty surrounding the future status of events while Covid-19 is still a threat makes it nearly impossible for our donors, vendors, and volunteers to make solid commitments to the tour. In addition, many other events have been rescheduled for October, and Old Riverside Foundation feared that the Home Tour would face overwhelming competition for guests if it occurred during that time. Finally, there is the real possibility that large events will remain off-limits in October, which would necessitate cancelling the considerable efforts required by the Home Tour Committee. All of these factors together led Old Riverside Foundation to decide that those efforts would be better spent on a rescheduled Home Tour for May 15, 2021.

So re-mark your calendars now for May 15, 2021! We anticipate a phenomenal tour with some of Riverside’s most-prized mid-century homes open for your enjoyment. Of course our incredible team of docents will be there to guide you through these architectural gems.

On behalf of everyone at Old Riverside Foundation, we wish you all good health, and look forward to seeing you next spring.
